Captain Macpherson
Will you please
be good enough to give
me your opinion relative
to the attached enquiry
from O.S.O. [Ordnance Survey Office] Southampton,
Sergeant Clegg, who exam-
ined Trace 4. 66/2 informs
me that he obtained the
name Inverbrekie from the
Proprietor himself,
and that the Proprietor
gave particular instruction
about this way of spelling
the word.
Trace 6 of 66/9 was examined
by your Division.

Lieut. [Lieutenant] Fawkes. R.E. [Royal Engineers]

Sir,
I referred this name
to the Lessee of the Ferry
at Invergordon and
annexed is his reply.
He does not agree with
either modes given on the
Plans. "Inverbrakie"
it appears is the mode
used in the Act of
Parliament. In the Val:[Valuation]
Roll of Ross-shire for
1868. 9. the farm house
is given "Wester Ord"
and in the Val [Valuation] Roll
1875. 6 "Inverbreakie"
