Remarks on the Plans, &c.
On plan 66/9 the parish of
Resolis the name "Inverbreakie ferry"
is written to two houses, and
"Inverbreakie and Invergordon ferry"
is written to the ferry at the
same place. On plan 66/2 of
the parish of Rosskeen the
name "Inverbrekie" is written
to a farm house. Is there
any reason why the spelling
of the name should not be
similar on both these plans?

Colonel Parsons,
The spelling of the
name ought to be similar
on both these plans.
I enclose herewith correspon-
dence on the subject
with the Proprietor, also
with Captain Macpher-
son.
I have today seen the
Proprietor, and from my
conversation with him
I am led to consider
"Inverbrekie" to be the
spelling most in accord-
ance with modern
custom.
I am desired to ask you
to change the name on
66/9 if this spelling is
adopted
I regret that this question
was necessarily detained
till my return from Shetland.
