043 The family burying ground of the MacKenzies of Coul, situate about 1/4 of a mile south from Coul House. It is only of late years that it has been used as a burying ground by the coul family although it is supposed to be a very old place of burial.

087 There is to be seen in this burying place the remains of a druidical circle of which there are still 7 stones remaining all standing about 2ft 6in above ground and measuring from one foot to 18 inches thick, one of these stones has 3 round holes measuring 9 inches in diameter & 6 inches deep, the stone is about 5ft in length, the largest stone stands 3ft above gd [ground] & is 7ft long by 2ft 3in thick.

087 Adjacent to these stones is to be seen a small stone cist still buried in the ground but the top of the stones of which it is formed is flush with the surface, it is 3ft 6in long by 1ft 6in at one end & 1ft at the other. it is formed [continued on page 44]
