The parish of Applecross is in the Presbytery of Lochcarron, Synod of Glenelg. It is bounded on the north by the parish of Gairloch; on the east by the parish of Lochcarron; on the south and southeast by Loch Carron and Loch Kishorn, (both saltwater lochs,) and on the west by Inner Sound and Loch Torridon. There are no Detached portions of the parish of Applecross; but there are 4 detached portions of the parish of Lochcarron situated in the parish of Applecross, one in trace 5 of Sheet 103, and three of them joins the north end of Loch Kishorn in trace 2 of Sheet 110. |

This supposition is sustained from the fact of a Holy Water Font or an article much resembling the same having been found near during the spring of this year (A.D 1874) The word "Comraich" does signify Sanctuary but has no connection with this chapel , but is taken from a supposition that the land within a radius of six miles from the place of Applecross being priviledged, or protected from any other power save that of the Church. No further information than the above could be obtained after very careful enquiry from every available source. |
