102 Applies to 4 forest trees situated on the margin of a wood about ¾ of a mile N.E. [North East] of the village of Applecross. They are planted in this form, [sketch] and where the cross appears, there was at one time an apple tree, now removed , the fruit of which bore the mark of a cross, and it is generally believed that from this peculiar mark and also from these trees being planted in the shape of a cross, the parish derived its present name. Formerly it was called Comraich. No further information of an authentic nature could be obtained. On the property of the Right Hon. [Honourable] Lord Middleton
