A small village or range of houses or huts 2 miles from Stornoway they are of a very poor discription the side walls are only 5 feet high and are with out windows. The roofs are thatched with straw and have no chimneys. The people and the cattle sleep in the one appartment and all the dung and filth is preserved for manure in the interior of the huts which are cleaned only once in the year
