There is a portion of its Southern end and near its summit composed of hard cemented gravel, which is of a reddish colour.

It does not appear to be navigable, butits northern end contains a tolerably good harbour in calm weather, "Caolas Stac an Tuill" signifies Hole Rock's Sound.
