049 [Situation] In the centre of the plan, 3/4 of a mile West of Eilean Mhuire and north of Eilean an Tighe.
The largest of the Shant Isles, which is about 1 mile in length, by about 3/4 of a mile in breadth. It is nearly surrounded by a steep rocky cliff, which, on the north side is inaccessible. At high water, a landing can be effected on any part of it. It is connected with Eilean an Tighe, by a small, low, narrow, shingly beach. Its beach is small, with the exception of a portion on the north-east side. It is the resort, of a great number of sea-fowl, Eagles, puffins, cormorants, ravens, carrion crows, with other smaller birds, all of which breed in the cliffs Continued on next page - [9]
