003 A Small Cove, on the Coast at the Butt of Lewis, the Walls of which are steep, rocky and perpendicular. There was a cave here formerly which was the favorite resort of smugglers, and which is said to have been their last stronghold in Lewis, but the Cliffs and Earthy bank which overhang it has fallen in 1851 and so closed it up as to render all traces of it invisible.
