place there in very remote times…..It is only
necessary for us to add that in the County of Renfrew
There are not more than Six individuals who can
now (?about 1830) point out the Site of "Queen Blearie's
Stane" and still fewer who can show the spot where
Palmyarm [Palm my Arm] Ross so originally distinguished himself.
We take the merit to ourselves of suggesting to the
intelligent farmer at the Knowe the propriety of putting
up a stake to mark the spot where the cross Stood
and of saving the mound from further obliteration
by the plough*.
(*It was in the year 1782 that in the course of Some
agricultural improvements the first attempt was made
to level the mound and fill up the fosse. Previous
to that time, the ditch was about 6 yards in width and
4 feet in depth. The mound was 20 yards in diameter.)

If these objects can be identified, they may be written
Site of "Standing Stone" (in Old English) and "Kemp Knowe" in German text, to the Site or remains of the mound with Surrounding ditch
