011.13 This name applies to the houses which lie between the occupation road leading to Johnshill Well, on the North, and the occupation road going from the turnpike road to the west in direction of Brae Well, on the South. The name has been long established & is well known.
I made enquiry as to whether there was a John's Hill in the neighbourhood, from whence the name may have originated, but I could not find one.

The most of the houses here are supposed to have been built about 1600. The name applies from the junction of Mains Streer & Factory Close to the beginning of Johnshill The "old Town" is a well known place.
