002.13 An extensive Reservoir about 2 Miles North from the Town of Greenock, belonging to the 'Shaws Water Co. [Company]' and formed for the purpose of supplying water power to drive the machinery of the various Mills at that Town. The water, on leaving this Reservoir enters a smaller one from which an Aqueduct leads to Greenock. The people in the locality, almost unversally, call it Loch Thom, from the name of the Engineer that laid it off.
