001.15 A large stream having its source in the moors and the bdy. [boundary] between Ayr & Renfrewshire where it is called 'Rotten Burn', it there received the name of 'Shaws Water' for a short distance (now included in Shaws Reservoir) and finally is called 'Kip Water' from where it issues from these Reservoirs until it falls into the Firth at Innerkip while passing the farm of Dunrod it is sometimes called 'Dunrod Burn' but the Authorities given think that this name should not be written.
