007.14 | During the past years this village has rapidly increased in size and population. It is divided by the "Gryfe" into separate portions each being in separate parishes. The houses belonging to this portion are of good masonry but are less compact than those on the opposite side of the river. On this side are large Cotton Mills, 1 Twisting and 1 Corn Mills. Also a Tannery and Free Church School and one or two Public Houses. There are several Gas lamps erected at various corners, the gas is supplied from the Cotton Mills. The principal thoroughfares through the village are leading Turnpike roads. |
