Danish Cross: It formerly stood at the Cross roads about 11 chains north-west of its present position, but was removed some years ago by the Mr Fleming of Barochan, to this place. It now marks the Site of the "Old House of Barochan".

"Danish cross: Perhaps it might be intended as a devotional cross for travellers."

"The cross above mentioned was lately removed
by Malcolm Fleming, Esqr. the present proprietor,
to a neighbouring hill, where the old mansionhouse
of Barochan formerly stood. This house is reported
to have been burnt by the English, probably
in the reign of King Edward, and on his invasion of Scotland."

and barony of Barochan, the seat of, & whence, an ancient family of the
name of Fleming take designation."
