002.05 In 1797, An Admiral Jervis erected a Mound and a small Battery here which was mounted with 12 guns, And in honour of whom it was named. It was Removed about 30 years ago to make way for the Rope Walk and the formation on East Clyde Street &c.
On a stone of the Wall of the Rope Walk is "Fort Jervis" "Feby [February] 14th 1797"

002.05 A large and substantially built Quay branching out from East "Clyde Street." and extending an short distance beyond the Low Water Mark. It is bound on the N.W. [North West] Side by the "Bay of Quick" and along the S.E. [South east] side is the what the Inhabitants call a Slip erected for the purpose of bringing logs of timber up &c. The Slip is sloped gradually from the land to its seaward end, and is paved with granite.
