002.06 A very extensive ship building yard appropriated alone for the building of Iron vessels. The Machinery, Furnace Sheds, and Smithy are substantially built with Stone and lime with the exception of the northside of the Machinery Sheds which is supported with strong iron pillars. The red line through the centre of these last named Sheds is a stone partition wall and the black line betwixt the Smithy and Furness shed is a wooden partition.

002.06 Attached to this yard is a patent Slip where vessels can be sailed on to a Kind of cradle and pulled up by machinery. The stone at the N.W. [North West] corner of the machinery Sheds is used for the steaming of timber. This Yard is the property of Mr Steel who is also the proprietor of that Ship building yard to the West of this which is described by Mr Smith for the common trace.

002.06 The "Treenail Store" which is shown on trace is where all the wooden nails are Kept, hence its name. About 350 hands is the average employed in this Iron Ship building yard.
