2. Boreland. William Brown, a more considerable property
about half a mile N. [North] of Eagleshame, all good land, acquired
Succession, about 150 years ago, from a family of the name
Anderson.
3. Muirhouse, East [and] 4. Muirhouse, West purchased in 1742, by their grandfather
from Baron Mure of Caldwell.
These two properties, lying conterminous to each other, are situated
about two miles west from Eagleshame, and partake, much
[of the] nature of the muirish Country they are surrounded with,
partly Cultivated, partly natural meadow, and partly in enough unreclaimed lands, well stocked with muir-fowl.

P. 383 The Parish of Eaglesham is nearly a square
about 6 miles in a direction from north to south, and 5½ miles
from East to west, it is bounded on the east by the White Cart which
Seperates it from the parishes of East Kilbride and Carmunnock,
on the north, by Mearns or Earnwater, which seperate
it from Mearns and the lands of Humbie; on the west by the parish of
[Left margin 384] Fenwick; and on the South, by the parish of Loudon.
The highest hills in the parish are Balagich, Dunwan, [Mires]
and Blackwood, which vary in height from 1000 to 1200 feet.
