076 | [Situation] Near the south side of the Church. An Ancient Stone Cross in the Centre of the Graveyard attached to Fowlis Church. It stands about six feet high, is in good preservation, and Situated at the east end of an Ancient Stone Coffin or Sarcophagus with a Sword, Horn, and other Sculptures thereon: it is said, Traditionally, to be the Grave of a Knight of Palestine who fought in the "Crusades" - probably that of the Husband of the Lady who founded the Church, as mentioned in the Published Accounts. The cross has some traces of sculpturing on it, but is very much defaced |

076 | [Situation] At the S W. [South West] corner of the church An ancient Iron Ring or Collar Suspended from the Church Wall, near the S.W. [South West] angle, - by a Chain and staple. It is fastened about 5½ feet from the ground in the Wall at the West side of the entrance, and is said to be the original Jougs used here formerly for the punishment of Delinquents. It is in Very good preservation. |
