088 [Situation] About 20 Chains NE [North East] of Castlehuntly.
A plain circular pillar about 20 feet in height surmounted by a Lion. There is not any date or inscription on it. It is situated within the grounds of Huntly Castle where it was conveyed about 70 years since, for the purpose of preserving it, and as an ornament. This was the Market Cross of the now extinct Burgh of Longforgan

This site was pointed out by Mr. George Robertson, who recollects the cross being there, The whole of the houses in the vicinity are of modern construction, and have been built since the cross was removed, This is the site of the Market Cross described in the above Descriptive Remarks
