Sir W.D. Stewart, Bart. [Baronet] Mr. John Harris Revd. [Reverend] Daniel McBride |
062 | This name is applied to the ruins of an ancient castle or stronghold, situated on high ground in the east side of Birnam Hill. The walls are only a few feet high, and from their great thickness it would seem that the place was at one time of considerable strength Property of Sir W.D. Stewart, Bart. [Baronet] "Birnam Hill was in ancient times included within the bounds of the Royal Forest. To the south of the hill, not far from Rohallion - the Shooting Lodge of James Condie, Esqr., Perth - are the ruins of a Hunting Seat, said to have belonged to one of the early Scottish Kings" Dunkeld, its Straths & Glens |
