087 This name applies to a small thorn Tree situated a short distance to the west of Fingask Castle. From its appearance it is evidently of great antiquity.

087 A plain circular pillar about 8 feet in height in the gardens of Fingask Castle. There is a stone tablet at the foot of the pillar on which is written, "Pillar of the Old Cross of Perth, pulled down by Cromwell's army in 1651, rebuilt in 1669 and finally taken down in 1765." In 1765 the town council empowered the magistrates to remove it. It was thereafter disposed of at a public sale to a mason, he being the highest bidder, for five pounds. He immediately took it down and carried off the stones. New Statistical Account.

087 This Dial is evidently of great antiquity, it bears the date of 1563, and is said to have been in the gardens of Mary Queen of Scots at Holyrood Palace.
