109 [Situation] About 8 Chains NW by W [North West by West] of the Ph. [Parish] Church This name, at present applies to the projecting point of a high bank at the N W. [North West] end of Forteviot There was a Knoll or eminence on the east side of this point, which the Water of May has inundated and entirely washed away, so that the bank to which the name is now applied was only the eastern base of the eminence, yet still the name is applied to it by the inhabitants It was on this eminence as the tradition of locality states, stood the Castle of the Pictish and Scottish Kings.
