GLEN QUAICH | Glen Quaich Glen Quaich Glen Quaich |
Revd. Dr. [Reverend Doctor] D. Duff Revd. [Reverend] Hugh McEwen Mr. William Armstrong |
071 | This glen extends from Stronconnachan at its head or western extremity to Amulree at its eastern. In general its sides are somewhat steep. The upper or western half is uncultivated, but the eastern portion, particularly around Loch Fraochie is under cultivation to some extent. "This valley runs nearly parallel to Strath Tay, and its waters, first collected into the Quaich and afterwards into the Braan, emty themselves into the Tay at Dunkeld. For the space of more than a mile above the entrance of the entrance of the Quaich into Loch Fraochie, there is a dead level of swampy, and apparently undrainable land." Statistical Account. |
