107 The site of a portion of the Roman Road leading from Ardoch to Stormount, there is very little of the Road in the parish of Crieff. The Road, after crossing the River Earn, at Creel Ford, appears to abruptly change its direction from a northerly to an easterly one, and it is traditionally held that at this point there once existed a branch leading through Strath Earn to the camps at Dalginross. This tradition is supported by the circumstance of a pavement composed of stones, bedded together in the usual way the Roman Roads were generally constructed, being dug up, when the present T.P. [Turnpike] road was made through Burrelll Street in Crieff, but there is no one able to point out the site if this branch road. The portion of the Roman Road in the parish of Crieff is entirely destroyed, having been dug up at the time the changing of the course and being up the Pow Water removed.
