Old Statistical Account
051 The site of an ancient Castle, said to have been erected by, and been the residence of, Bishop Sinclair. Bishop Sinclair, better known as Robert the Bruce's own bishop, is said to have built the choir of the Dunkeld Catherdral in A.D. 1318. it must consequently be presumed that this Castle was erected towards the end of the 13th or the beginning of the 14th Century. There are no existing remains of the building, a small knoll on the south bank of the Buckny Burn, and near that stream's confluence with the Lunan Burn, is pointed out as the place where it stood.
