063 Close to Chapel Hill, on the south side, and a short distance west of the parish Church of Clunie there are the remains or site, of a military outpost or Redoubt, and is supposed to have been occupied by part of King Malcolm's troops. The inner wall and ditch can be distinctly traced.
This place has been called "The Ward" from time immemorial, within it, is a small octagagol [octagonal] modern building, erected for the accommodation of Curlers
