062 ; 063 | A small but prominent oval-shaped hill, partly planted with fir, partly rough pasture and partly arable. Its south side is steep, but to the north it has a gradual slope. Property of Sir Alexander Muir McKenzie, Delvin House. "To the east end of the Hill of Gourdie, about three miles from Spittalfield, may be seen a relic of antiquity, called the Steed Stalls. It consists of eight mounds, with corresponding trenches. It is thought that this formed the advanced position of the Caledonian Army, in order that they might watch the movements of the Romans when they lay encamped at Inchtuthil, about two miles to the southward, on the plain below."
