062 This name is applied to two small knolls situated about one hundred yards apart, one of a circular and the other of an oblong form, each about six feet in height and planted with fir. Tradition says that these hillocks were used as places of execution in former times. Property of Lord Airlie, Corachay Castle. They are not artificial.
"A little to the north of Stanley Know, there is rising ground styled the Gallow Drum, and about 300 yards south-west of the minister's glebe is another eminence, named the Gibbet Know, both which were places of execution in the times of baronial jurisdiction." New Statistical Account.
