118 The Burgh of Auchterarder was once of considerable consequence, although its priviledges are now lost, it is about 1½ miles long and consists of one Street. There are 4 Schools 5 Churches 8 Inns 2 Brewerys 2 Banks, and the head district post office, situated within it, the houses are generally of the Smaller Class, and the property of the Inhabitants. It is situated at the west end of Strathearn. There is also a weekly market held on Saturday evening for grain.
