117 A small but rapid stream which rises in the south side of Carrim Hill, in the Ochils, flows in a northeasterly direction passing close to Buttergask, from which it takes its name, and falls into the Allan a short distance north of Longfauld.

117 A large blue whinstone lying on the surface, fifteen feet long, three wide in the middle, and four thick; one end tapers off to a point, the other end is two feet wide. It very much resembles a boat in shape from which circumstance, no doubt, the name is derived. There is no tradition in the neighbourhood respecting it.
