All living authorities disagree with the statement made in the Old and New Statistical Accounts with regard to this hill, all asserting and pointing out Chapel Hill as being without the limits of the Camp, instead of at the Praetorium, A Chapel appears to have existed on the Southern ramparts of Lindum. the walls of which are remembered by many persons about the neighbourhood, these persons are of opinion that it was from this chapel, and not from the supposed Chapel at the Praetorium that this hill took its name. Chapel Hill is well known in the locality but no one points out the spot where the Praetorium stands as being it.
