This was once a Small piece of Marshy ground on the farm of Traquair Knowe; but from drainage, it is now rendered Comparitively dry. It is bounded by Dumbetha Knowe, Shaw Hill, Trevana Knowe, and the Lead Mine.

This Knowe is at present almost entirely Converted into a plantation - And is Situated to the North or North-east of Dumbetha Bog.

018 [Situation] About ½ of A Mile E by N [East by North] of Trevana Knowe
This heathy hill, it is Conjectured, formerly received the name of Traquair Muir - but for the last half-Century and More, it has been Known in the district by No other Name than the Lead Mine - which Name, it would Seem to have received from an unsuccessful attempt having once been Made to discover lead on it. The remains of an old quarry is Still to be Seen. A Trigonometrical Station is on it.
