This well is Now invisible. It has been drained to form the present well at the Manse. it is Supposed to derived its Name from the Connection in which it Stood to the church.

This Name is given to a Small portion of Arable ground where the remains of houses were visible about - half-a-Century ago. It is Said And Confirmed by parish Registers - that the Second Son of an Earl of Traquair lived here, And was Murdered by the Murray's of Philiphaugh. No remains now.
