013 [Situation] About ½ mile South of Peebles
A track of land on the South Side of the Tweed and close to the town of Peebles. When Peebles was a royal residence it was on this spot where the tournaments and other pastimes were held, in times of warfare also it was the place of rendezvous and training for the Tweeddale Militia; races were also held here annually at Beltein. In some of the written accounts mention is made of a Roman Urn containing the blade of a dagger having been dug up on this moor, but the spot where this interesting relic was found cannot now be pointed out - The Kings Muir is all Enclosed and planted, and a good portion of it is feued. It is the property of the town of Peebles -
