A Stream which is formed by Several small streams flowing from what is Called "The Hopes" on the Farm of Ladyurd. It flows Northwards thro' [through] the Estate of Castle Craig, passing by the East side of the offices, and by Grantshall -- and falls into the Tarth Water.

An Extensive Wood of Forest and Fir trees Mixed; On the Estate of Castle Craig, Extending from the Hopes Burn in a S. E. [South East] direction into the adjoining Plan. It is the Property of Sir W. G. Carmichael Bart. [Baronet] of Skirling & Castle Craig. At its Eastern side is an Extensive Rookery Composed of Forest trees. It is said to be so called from its fancied resemblance to a Woolshears
