This is the Remains of the old Castle of the Tweedies of Drummelzier, who were absolute monarchs or Thanes of Tweeddale The greater part of the building remains and is in very good preservation; it consists of a Square Structure with a Tower at the S.E. [South West] angle. The walls are very thick and pierced with loopholes and bearing Evidence of Considerable strength. It is situated near the Farmhouse of Drummelzier Place.
