092 | This name applies to a small Island situated about one fourth of a mile north of the north East end of the Island of Stronsay called Grice Ness. The Island is all one farm, but there are three small Cottages occupied by the farm babourers there was formerly two small mill's on the Island which are now disused. The Antiquaties on this Island Are numerous in proportion to it's size & are as follow's, three Chapels, The site of one in the garden adjacent to the farm house & one about a hundred Yards East of the Earls Knoll close to the sea on the East End shore, the third cannot be now pointed out, Also the remains of a supposed Brough on the north West End, The Island is well cultivated & is about one mile by a mile & half, The property of Colonel Balfour of Shapinsay |
