It has been said that he was the greatest man in the Western lands, either in old times or at the present day, of these who had got a higher title than he had. After his death his sons Olaf and Andres divided their patrimony. The next summer after his death they raised the end walls of the large drinking hall which he had in Gareksey. "Orkneyinga Saga" |

Applies to the site of a Roman Catholic Chapel. It appears to have been built on a circular building embedded in the earth, similar to what is known by the name of "Brough" but it might also have been the foundation of a circular Chapel part of the circular building can still be seen and it appears to have been of great strength at one time as it has been built of two concentric walls adjoining each other. it is thought that the chapel was built on the top of this building but nothing certain is known concerning it. Mr Marwick tenant of this ground has dug up human bones whalebone shells and what he thought to be grave stones near this place he also demolished ruins adjoining this spot which was thought to belong to a chapel at one time.
