009.05 This name applies to a Village Situated in the north Eastern Extremity of the Parish of Urquhart and adjacent to the Coast of the Moray Firth. and is Situated about half a mile north of the Village of Garmouth. And like the latter place the streets have no names. There is a Female school in this village also two Commodious houses having names which will be found described under their respective heads. Shipbuilding was at one time carried on in a very brisk manner but of late years the trade has become very dull. there is Still two Shipbuilding Yards in the Village and Vessels from 450 to 500 Tons Register are launched fro the Yards. The Houses in the village are chiefly one Storey part Slated and partly thatched and in general very good repair. the principal proprietor being His Grace the Duke of Richmond Gordon Castle, Banffshire
