The irons or hoops which tied his dead body to the gibbet contrivance are still to be Seen with Mr Allan Hills which is abt.[about] 11Ch [Chains] westward of Said grave. It is Said however that after 3 months the body was taken down and intered on the Site of the gibbet. Another grave of a Woman who committed Suicide at Garmouth some years after is along-Side, and both are well defined; on a little Knoll abt[about] 70 links E. [East] of an Occupation road in the plantation and within 6 chains of where the Said road Crosses the Parish boundary a little eastward.

OS1/12/19/35 HOLY GHOST HOUSE (Site of 013.12 "Dipple, a parsonage dedicated to the Holy Ghost, whereof the Earl of Moray is Patron. At the church-yard stile there stood a small house, commonly called the house of the Holy Ghost - around which, Sun-way, the people made a tour with the corps at burials, and could not be restrained from this superstition till the walls were quite razed of late" Extract from Shaw's History of Moray.
