010.16 | This is a large Upright stone, about eight feet high, situated in a cultivated field about one mile north of Altyre House. It was found, in the parish of Duffus, and removed to where it now stands, by the wife of a late proprietor of Altyre. It has a cross cut on one side and various runic carvings on both sides |

010.16 | This is the ruin of a church, quite roofless, but with the walls entire, situated in the Altyre woods, and near the Altyre Burn, and about one mile north of Altyre house. In the chartulary of Moray mention is made of Altyre chapel, having been used in 1230; and the present church is supposed to have been built on the site of the Roman catholic Chapel. The present ruin ceased to be used for religious purposes about 1660, after Altyre was joined to Rafford parish. The present is the ruin of a presbyterian church. It is on the property of Sir W.G. Cumming |
