010.08 A handsome Stone Building situated about the centre of High Street, at the Corner of Tollbooth Street, it is two stories high and is ornamented with a handsome Tower. In it is transacted the Public Business of the Town. The ground flat being occupied as offices by the Town Clerk; on the first flat is situated the Council Room and the Justices of the Peace Court, used also as Sheriff's small debt Court; higher up in the Tower & over the Lobby is situated a Fireproof Record Room in which are Kept the records of the Town. It was built in 1837 on the site, but covering more space, of the old Tollbooth, and it is in a good State of repair. Property of the Town.
