005; 010 This River has its source in the mountains to the South of Inverness and after a course of about forty miles, falls into the Moray Firth about four Miles below Forres; it bounds the Parish of Forres throughout its whole length on the N.[North] West. Its course through this Parish is rapid & banks low, the Country through which it passes being flat, so much so that when floods occur they do great damage to the neighbouring farms and the river in consequence frequently Shifts its Course. Higher up its banks are high perpen-dicular & Composed of rock forming the finest river Scenery to be seen in this part of the Country.
