007.12 This name applies to a considerable tract of haugh land immediately north of the city, between the original and present course of the River Lossie. It is described as follows in the New St: Acct: [Statistical Account] of the parish of Spynie to which it belongs.
"The parish is bounded on the south by the river Lossie, excepting a fine field of about 50 acres, called Borough briggs, which belongs to this parish, though on the south side of the river. The reason of this is, that the Lossie
