[Almanac] Old Statistical Account New Statistical Account Blaell's Map Valuation Roll Morayshire described The Parish of Birnie is in the presbytery of Elgin and synod of Moray. Patron the Earl of Moray. It is bounded on the north by the Parish of Elgin, on the west by the Parish of Dallas, on the East by the Parishes of Elgin and Rothes and on the South by the Parish of Rothes. The Parish of Birnie is situated in the County of Elgin and contains about 6828 statute acres, the Parish Church is in the North West point of the Parish. There are no detached portions of the Parish of Birnie in this or any other County neither are there detached portions of any other parish within its limits. The soil of the greater portion of the Parish is of a mossy nature, not quite half of the Parish is under cultivation.

Allan Woodside Mr Alexander Millton Shoemaker Rushcrook 012.16 Stone thus [see drawing] about 3½ feet in length and abt [about] 2 feet wide and about a foot in thickness, and on the face is a square or right angular cutting abt [about] 7" by 5" and abt. [about] 3' deep upon the face of the stone and was standing where pointed out by Mr A. Millton Crofter till some few years ago when it was removed and is now to be seen lying upon a Bank abt [about] 2 Ch [Chains] north. The stone was looked upon as an antiquity and it seems doubt[ful] how long it stood in the previous position - nor is there much known concerning it -
