012.11 | Name of one of the parish antiquities which was formerly a large cairn of Stones The most of the Cairn having been carried away, many years ago, for building purposes The remains are small boulders Still forming the base of the pile and abt [about] 2 or 3 feet in height, a portion of the ground surface in the interior where the cairn stood having been explored, but no relic has been found. situated about 15 Ch [chains] S.S.E. [South South East] of Hill Head Trig [Trigonometrical] Station and in the plantation and about 9 Ch [chains] N.W. [North West] of the S.E. L [South East Line] of said plantation also a few yards S. [South] of a junction of road in the wood. The Cairn is looked upon as great antiquity by the natives of the district, and is classed by tradition as a Danish Battle Cairn. C.
