The Parish of Birnie is in the presbytery of Elgin and synod of Moray. Patron the Earl of Moray. It is bounded on the north by the Parish of Elgin, on the west by the Parish of Dallas, on the East by the Parishes of Elgin and Rothes and on the South by the Parish of Rothes. The Parish of Birnie is situated in the County of Elgin and contains about 6828 statute acres, the Parish Church is in the North West point of the Parish. There are no detached portions of the Parish of Birnie in this or any other County neither are there detached portions of any other parish within its limits. The soil of the greater portion of the Parish is of a mossy nature, not quite half of the Parish is under cultivation. |
