[Situation] At the N. [North] end of Greenside Row.
A plain low building being a house in Lower Greenside Row which was altered and improved for the use of an infant school which is Kept here. This school is supported by a number of ladies who formed a society for the purpose of supporting it for the education of poor children of the locality. One penny a weeK of school fees are paid by those who can afford but most of the scholars are free. It is taught by a Schoolmistrees & an assistant. The average attendance including boys & girls are about 75. It is under the patronage of the minister & KirKsession of Greenside. The teachers are paid by the Society above mentioned.
