023 The remains of a Roman Camp on the farm of Halltree, it is a nearly an oval shape, formed or enclosed by a single rampart of Stones & earth having two entrances or outlets, on its east and west sides. When named or spoken of in the locality this Camp is always Called the Roman Camp though informants given Cannot assign any reason for Calling it by the given name.

023 An old encampment on the farm of Halltree, it consists two ramparts of Stones and earth with a fosse between, the inner rampart is complete of oval shape while only a small fragment of the outer rampart stands, along the site of or ridge of the remainder of it, runs a ring fence by which the whole is enclosed & covered with wood, when Spoken of in the Country it is Commonly Called by the given name and informants Say they suppose it to be of Roman Construction but it is mere Conjecture
